Out-of-Plane Strengthening of Unreinforced Masonry Walls by Glass Fiber-Reinforced Polyurea

چکیده

Fiber-reinforced polymer reinforcement or polyurea techniques are applied to strengthen unreinforced masonry walls (UMWs). The purpose of this experimental study is verify the out-of-plane reinforcing effect sprayed glass fiber-reinforced (GFRPU), which a composite elastomer made and milled fibers on UMW. strengths ductile behaviors based various coating shapes compared in study. An empirical formula describe degree strength UMW derived results. It observed that peak load-carrying capacity, ductility, energy absorption capacity gradually improve with an increase strengthening area. Compared existing wall method, GFRPU technique construction method can help safety performance along ease economic efficiency. Doi: 10.28991/CEJ-2022-08-01-011 Full Text: PDF

Effective stiffness of unreinforced brick masonry walls

Code design of Unreinforced Masonry (URM) buildings is based on elastic analysis, which requires as input parameter the effective stiffness of URM walls. Current approaches estimate the effective stiffness as fixed ratio of the gross sectional stiffness but comparisons with experimental results have shown that this does not yield satisfactory predictions. In this paper, a recently developed ana...

Effect of Unreinforced Masonry Infill Walls on Seismic Performance of Reinforced Concrete Framed Structures

Unreinforced Masonry infill walls (URM) are commonly used in the Reinforced Concrete (RC) framed structures as interiors and exteriors partition walls. Although they usually are not considered in the structural analysis and design, their influence on the seismic performance of the framed structures is significant. A common practice in the modern and old RC buildings is to remove the URM walls i...

Limit states of modern unreinforced clay brick masonry walls subjected to in-plane loading

Recent research showed that the in-plane horizontal displacement capacity of unreinforced masonry (URM) walls depends on numerous factors that are not yet captured by current empirical drift capacity models; e.g., axial stress, shear span, geometry of the walls and the material used. In order to improve the performance-based assessment of URM wall buildings, future research should aim at develo...

Dynamic testing of a four-storey building with reinforced concrete and unreinforced masonry walls: prediction, test results and data set

This paper presents the results of a series of shake-table tests on a half-scale, four-storey building with reinforced concrete and unreinforced masonry walls. Due to the lack of reference tests, the seismic behaviour of such mixed structures is poorly understood. The test unit was subjected to several runs of increasing intensity yielding performance states between minor damage and near collap...

Strengthening of Concrete and Masonry Structures with Fiber Reinforced Polymers (frp)

Since the late 1980s, the civil engineering community has become interested in the application of Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRP) to the construction industry. These materials are comprised of very strong fibers and a resin matrix. The most popular application of FRPs has been in repair and rehabilitation of structures. In this technique, FRPs are bonded to the exterior surface of the structura...
